Tower 343 is a 2019 Pierce Ascendant 110' Single Axle Rear Mount Tower. It is the newest piece of apparatus in our Department and has truly been a great piece of equipment for us!
This apparatus has a longer reach, but smaller wheelbase and less axles than the previous Tower. This has given us the ability to get into more areas of town and it can also operate as an Engine when needed based on the setup of it.
343 has a 1500 Gallon per Minute Pump, a 500 Gallon Water Tank and a full complement of attack hose lines for putting fires out, as well as several lengths of supply hose lines for connecting to other apparatus and hydrants. Along with that it has a large variety of hand tools, a variety of ground ladders (more than on the Engines) and other equipment to ensure we are able to get the job done.
This piece of apparatus features standard tools, but most notably has the 110' boom which allows us to get onto roofs and other areas that are either tall or far off of a road. It also has an elevated master stream for times when we need up to 1250 gallons per minute coming onto a fire from above.
T343 also houses the majority of Butler Fire's Rope Rescue Equipment and is the primary apparatus any time the Rope Team is requested.
For all over responses T343 is generally the second truck to respond.
At this time, the Tower currently has seating for 6. There are seats for a Driver and Officer in the front, and for 4 Firefighters in the Crew Cab Area (Back of the Cab).
