Bob Farro - Fire Police
Pequannock Engine & Hose - Engine 344 Bob Farro joined the Butler Fire Department in December of 1960. He currently has 57 Years of Active Service for our Department. Bob continues to be an Active Member of our Fire Police for the Pequannock Engine & Hose Company and is regularly out on our scenes assisting with Traffic Control and Scene Safety. Bob is a Veteran of the Armed Services, serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War as a Third Class Boilerman. After the war, Bob spent 35 years as an Ironworker. Some of the major projects he was a part of included work on the George Washington Bridge and the former Giant Stadium, both of which have been well known structures in our area. Bob and his wife Irene married in 1955 after spending 7 years together. The pair has 5 children, |
12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. During his tenure with Butler Fire, Bob has previously served as a Lieutenant of the Pequannock Engine & Hose Company. Bob also has a Brother who has served in the Cedar Grove Fire Department, and his father was a Charter Member of Cedar Grove Fire.
Bob moved to Butler in 1959 and joined Butler Fire soon after. Bob originally joined after speaking to a neighbor and learning that there were open spots on the Department, so he applied. He remains a member to this day because he enjoys the company of our membership and has come to find the Department as his extended family.
All of our members who have worked with Bob over the 57 years that he has been a member have been privileged to have spent time from him and have also had the chance to enjoy his sense of humor. We look forward to more years serving with Bob.
